Currys has announced it’s extending its partnership with TCL, adding the Chinese brand’s C725K QLED TVs to its retail stores.
The partnership suggests TCL is intent on growing its presence on this side of the pond. In the U.S., TCL already has a strong foothold where it is ranked as the 5th most popular TV brand, but it has not really become a household name in Europe.
That may change as Currys is getting its hands on some of TCL’s newer models, namely the TCL C725K QLED TV that was launched last year, in addition to the TCL RP620K and RS50 TCL Roku Ready TVs it already sells.
The TCL C725K is a popular model that’s available in a range of sizes from 43-inches all the way up to 75-inches. It offers Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos with built-in Onkyo speakers, Motion Clarity tech, and has a Game Master mode that supports advanced gaming features. The TV also comes with Freeview Play.
We should note however that the C725K is from last year’s portfolio, so it remains to be seen if Currys will add to its range with newer 2022 TCL TVs such as the flagship C93K or the beastly 98-inch C73K model that will go on sale for just £5,000.
At least, both parties spoke enthusiastically of the renewed partnership.
“TCL continues to grow in the UK, in terms of both sales and brand awareness, as more and more consumers buy into our ‘affordable premium’ positioning, and our relentless focus on giving British consumers what they really want,” said TCL UK & Ireland country manager Bernie Chen. “Our growing partnership with Currys is another proud step on our journey to becoming one of the top-selling TV brands in the UK.”
Currys’ Henrik Schmidt, head of category for vision, said the company was thrilled to be extending the partnership. “We are focused on offering our customers the very best technology at great prices and this is exactly what TCL is delivering with its TV ranges,” he said.
