Hisense announces 2022 UK TV range: OLED, Laser TVs and more

Hisense has announced its full lineup of TVs for the U.K. market, with the most tantalising offering being its newest OLED A85H Series model that’s available in 55-inch and 65-inch sizes.

The Hisense A85H is very similar to the company’s flagship A9H OLED TV that launched earlier in the U.S. and in Europe, and it offers some top-line specifications that put it on a par with similar models sold by LG and Sony.

Like its sister OLED TV, the Hisense A85H has a brightness rating of 800 nits, plus advanced gaming capabilities through its HDMI 2.1 ports. It notably supports 10-bit colour depth, 4K resolution and a native 120Hz refresh rate. On the other hand, it comes with a slightly less powerful audio system.

Hisense said that, like the A9H, the A85H comes with both HDMI 2.1 and HDMI 2.0 ports. The HDMI 2.1 ports support Variable Refresh Rate and AMD FreeSync to enable a better, lag-free experience with next-generation games consoles such as the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. It also features USB Type-A ports, a 3.5mm headphone jack, plus a mini AV input and support for Bluetooth and WiFi.

As for the sound system, this is a combined 60 watt speaker system, a tad less powerful than the 80 watt system found on the A9H. However, the A85H does seem to feature a better swivel stand that can move by up to 50 degrees without adjusting the base of the TV itself.

There’s no word on whether or not the Hisense A85H supports the “Sonic Screen” speaker technology found in the A9H, which vibrates the OLED display to produce sound. On the other hand, there is support for Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10+, HDR10 and Dolby Atmos.

Hisense said the A85H runs its homegrown VIDAA U6.0 platform, which is based on Android TV and supports voice assistance such as Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa and apps such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+ et al.

The Hisense A85H is available in the UK now, priced at £1,499 for the 55-inch version and £1,999 for the 65-inch model.

U.K. buyers have plenty of other options if the OLED model doesn’t interest them. Hisense said its flagship Mini-LED TV this year is the 65-inch U8HQ, which offers superior backlight control and colour management. The Mini-LED display is made up of thousands of miniature LEDs split into more than 100 dimming zones, Hisense said. The U8HQ will retail at £2,299.

Meanwhile those on smaller budgets may want to take a look at the Hisense U7HQ, which the company describes as a “medium level 4K TV” with support for all the major HDR formats. The 55-inch version retails at £899, and has been named as the “Official TV of the Qatar FIFA World Cup”.

Of course, Hisense is perhaps best known for its stunning home projects, which it has taken to calling its Laser TVs. Here we have two options including the latest 100L9 TriChroma Laser TV with an ALR screen that promises to handle even the brightest of ambient lighting conditions. The TriChroma Laser TV notable supports X-Fusion technology that relies on precise light sources to deliver over 25,000 hours of entertainment, and is priced at £3,999.

Finally, the Hisense L5F Laser TV is the company’s premium ultra short-throw projector for this year, capable of throwing up a gigantic image when placed just a few inches away from a wall.

The Hisense L5F laser TV delivers 4K Ultra HD images at up to 120-inches, with over 8 million pixels, with support for HDR promising “incredible detail”, the company said. Add to that, it also boasts “real cinematic sound” with Dolby Atmos, meaning that buyers can enjoy what should be very, very close to a true cinematic experience in the comfort of their own living rooms. It too, is priced at £3,999.

“We are thrilled to be announcing our ambitious 2022 TV range,” said Hisense UK Head of Marketing Arun Bhatoye. “We’ve created a TV for everyone with a wider range of technology than ever before - whether you’re looking for the latest in Mini-LED, cinema-quality laser technology or an entry 4K TV, there’s something for everybody. Each of our new models is packed with features to bring sound and picture to life without compromise.”
