Just days after expanding its TV lineup with the affordable P638K and C645K series models, TCL has debuted a more premium, bigger screen but still budget-friendly model in the shape of its TCL C805K TV.

The TCL C805K boasts some very impressive technology and features, with a Mini-LED panel with quantum dots, advanced gaming features and support for multiple HDR formats. What’s more, it’s available in a wide range of sizes, from 50-inches all the way up to 98-inches.

The launch of the C805K TV is proof positive that Mini-LED, once a premium display technology, is fast becoming a standard in many living rooms. Just a few years ago, Mini-LED displays were only found on the most advanced models of top brands such as Samsung and Sony, but the technology is now very much affordable with the likes of TCL and others now bringing it to their mid-range television series.

However, while the TCL C805K boasts great value, it is not a cheap TV by any means. The quantum dot Mini-LED display means it should provide excellent quality images for movies, TV shows and live sports, all the more so considering it can hit a peak brightness of 1,300 nits. Multiple HDR formats, including Dolby Vision IQ, Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and others are supported, while surround sound is catered to with Dolby Atmos.

It’s an excellent choice for gamers too, as they will be well served by the 144Hz maximum refresh rate. With TCL’s Game Master Pro 2.0 mode also onboard, gamers can access variable refresh rates and auto low-latency mode to ensure minimal flicker and juddering. In other words, even the fastest and busiest games should be super smooth.

The TCL C805K is powered by Google TV, and that means apps like Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon Prime Video are all preinstalled. It also supports hands-free control with Google Assistant, and Alexa is supported too.

Perhaps the best thing is the range of sizes on offer. For those with tons of living room space to fill, the 98-inch model may be a tempting choice, while those with smaller rooms can select from 50-, 55-, 65-, 75- and 85-inch options.

TCL said the 50-inch model starts at £699, with the 55-, 65-, 75-, 85- and 98-inch models priced at £799, £949, £1,349, £1,749, and £3,999 respectively. The full range of sizes is on sale now at Sonic, Reliant and Marks Electrical, while Curry’s, Hughes and AO are only selling the 55-, 65- and 75-inch models.
