TCL announces cut price one-day deals for its Series 8 Mini-LED TVs

Chinese TV brand TCL has announced a couple of awesome one-day deals for its high-end 8 Series 4K Roku TVs. The deal is available to buyers in the U.S., with the 65-inch version of the TCL 8 Series 4K TV going on sale for just $999.99 on May 5, and the 75-inch model available at a discounted price of just $1,799 on May 8.

Those are some pretty steep discounts, as the 65-inch model normally retails at $1,999, while the 75-inch version will set you back $2,999 on any other day.

The TVs are among TCL’s best, with features including support for Dolby Atmos and the Dolby Vision, HDR 10 and HLG high dynamic range formats. Moreover, the TVs boast TCL’s latest Mini-LED display technology with Quantum Dots and support for Auto Low Latency Mode.

Mini-LED is a promising display technology that many say is a big improvement over regular LCD LED displays. Mini-LED displays are built using LEDs of around 100 micrometers in size. That's much smaller than traditional LED displays, and so it means that many thousands more can be incorporated. The result is far superior contrast ratios and a significantly reduced response time when compared with traditional LED TVs.

We should note that Mini-LED is not be confused with MicroLED, which is made up of a millions of microscopic light-emitting diodes emit that can act as their own light source and is generally viewed as being the superior tech.

At launch last August, TCL said the TVs boast “groundbreaking new technology for an experience of colour, contrast and clarity that’s unmatched by almost any other television.”

That’s quite a claim of course, but it’s also not far from the truth, as HDTVTest’s Vincent Teoh gave the TCL 8 Series a very positive review when he got his hands on one last October.

TCL said the one day deals this week are valid only at Best Buy’s retail stores and its website, while stocks last. In both cases, the deals run until 11:59 p.m. Central Standard Time in the U.S., or until physical retail stores close, so don’t delay if you intend to take advantage of the offer.
