Samsung Electronics is trying to rack up more TV sales with some enticing discounts on its range of 8K models for U.K. customers. The company is offering a 10% discount on all four of its 8K TVs that are currently on sale in the U.K., up until the end of July 15.
The company said the discounts cover this year’s flagship 8K model, the 85-inch Q950TS QLED display, which wowed audiences at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas earlier this year with its stunning “Infinity design” that all but eliminates the bezel except for a thin strip at the bottom.
With its bezel-free design, Samsung claims its flagship 8K Q950TS QLED television is “99% screen” and offers “outstanding immersion” that simply wasn’t possible before. Moreover, the screen itself measures just 15mm thick, even though it houses a full array local dimming LED system behind the LCD panel.
The Q950TS finally went on sale in May, when Samsung revealed its full specifications and a list of premium features that includes its Tizen operating system with support for apps such as Netflix and Amazon Prime, a single HDMI 2.1 port and optional HDMI 2.1 features, support for HDR10+ and Apple AirPlay 2. However, it’s worth noting that Samsung’s 8K TVs do not support Dolby Vision or Dolby Atmos.
The 85-inch Q950TS was priced at an eye-watering £11,999 when it first went on sale, so those who may have felt it costs just a tad too much might now be tempted by Samsung’s temporary offer – the price has been reduced to just £10,799 at select retailers, and on Samsung Electronics U.K.’s own website. For those interested in the smaller, 75-inch version, that model now costs £7,199, reduced from £7,999.
For those looking for something cheaper, Samsung has a couple of alternative 8K models including its Q900T QLED 8K TV, which now costs £4,499 and £6,299 for the 65-inch and 75-inch models, respectively. In addition, buyers can also opt for Samsung's 8K Q800T QLED, which comes in a choice of 75-inches and 82-inches, priced at £4,949 and £6,299, respectively.
It’s also worth noting that Samsung’s flagship 2019 8K TV, the Q950R, is also still available to buy on Samsung’s website, now available for a bargain basement £2,999.
Meanwhile, those who appreciate their audio quality as much as pixel density might be interested in a second Samsung offer on its new S-Series soundbars. Samsung is giving away a free soundbar to every customer who purchases one of its 43-inch or larger The Frame or The Serif lifestyle TVs, with the offer running until August 11th.
