Sony debuts one of the fastest OLED gaming monitors thus far

Sony has announced a new OLED monitor aimed at professional eSports players that can be paired with both PCs and the PlayStation 5 console. It’s called the InZone M10S, and it’s a 27-inch monitor that was co-developed alongside the Fnatic eSports team, whose members include some of the most successful professional video gamers, ensuring that it’s “tournament ready”.

The Sony M10S is available to order online now, featuring a 1440p panel and a speedy 0.03 milliseconds response time and variable 480Hz refresh rate.

Those are some high-end specifications, and the M10S is without doubt one of the fastest OLED gaming displays money can buy. What’s more, it’s not that expensive, with a U.K. price tag of just £1,199, which makes it competitive with high-end gaming monitors sold by the likes of LG Electronics and Samsung. For gamers to achieve the full 480Hz refresh rates, they’ll need to hook up a PC that’s capable of such performance. The Sony PS5 maxes out at just 120Hz.

According to Sony, the InZone M10S features a number of “performance-enhancing” game modes for players to squeeze maximum performance out of their display. There’s a 24.5-inch mode that displays games at a 1:1 resolution of 1332p at up to 480Hz, while those used to playing on 1080p displays can select a lower resolution if they desire.

In addition, there is the FPS Pro mode, which is said to stimulate the “image characteristics of Twisted Nematic panel LCD displays” that are commonly used in eSports tournaments, plus the FPS Pro Plus mode, which adds further image enhancements to boost graphics performance.

Sony adds that the M10S can reach a peak brightness of 1,300 nits, which is very impressive for an OLED display. The monitor is also DisplayHDR True Black 400 certified, which means users can expect a dazzling array of colours and super-deep blacks. In terms of connectivity, it features HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 2.1 ports, as well as USB connections. Nvidia G-Sync is also supported, and there’s a height-adjustable stand with full flexibility that can be swivelled and tilted to the user’s content.

Alongside the Sony M10S, the company announced a second new monitor in the InZone lineup. It’s an upgrade of the 27-inch 4K LCD InZone M9 monitor that was first launched in 2022. It’s called the InZone M9 II, and it’s also going on sale today, priced at £899 in the U.S., which makes it $100 cheaper than its predecessor.

New features in the InZone M9 II include a faster 160Hz refresh rate and auto HDR tone mapping, which enables it to automatically detect when the user plugs in a PS5 console.
