BSkyB launches dedicated Sky Sports F1 HD channel

The new Sky Sports F1 HD channel is set to launch in March of next year, which will give Formula 1 enthusiasts a unique and memorable viewing experience that will take them into the heart of the action, and provide them with comprehensive coverage that will include expert analysis and information on top of the high-octane live sports action.

Viewers will be able to enjoy the Sky Sports F1 HD channel on HDTV displays, mobile devices like smartphones and tablets, as well as online throughout the Formula One season, and will be able to look forward to live coverage of the whole Grand Prix season. This will include practice and qualifying sessions, making this channel a must for any F1 fans who do not want to miss out on the action.

Sky TV subscribers who have access to both Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 2, or the HD pack of channels, will not have to pay any extra for the dedicated F1 channel. Those who have not subscribed to the Sky+HD package will receive a standard-definition version of the new channel.

Sky Sports’ managing director Barney Francis said that the broadcaster wants to give its Formula 1 viewers a unique viewing experience, as many are “hungry for more”. He added that this channel will prove a hit amongst F1 fans not only because it provides such indepth coverage, but also because it is a channel that is entirely devoted to the sport.
