Samsung Display has made modular, bezel-less OLED panels

Samsung Display might soon be able to create modular OLED TVs similar to some of the enormous MicroLED TVs we’ve seen in the past, thanks to what it claims are major advances in “bezel-less” technology.

The company showcased the new concept at MWC 2025, where it revealed that it has trimmed the size of its QD-OLED panel bezels by 40%, to just 0.6 millimetres. So when you put two OLED panels together, you’ll have a border that measures just 1.2 mm.

It’s important to note that this is still not as slim as the bezels on Samsung’s MicroLED displays, which are made up of multiple modules that can be slotted together to create enormous screens of various different sizes and aspect ratios.

Samsung Display posted the following video on YouTube that shows its modular, bezel-less OLED panels in action, but it’s admittedly not quite as impressive as MicroLED. For one thing, Samsung’s chosen graphic appears designed to mask just how big the bezels are, and when the image disappears, you can still see some fairly chunky black lines separating the individual modules:

But although it’s still not entirely bezel-free, it’s a promising development nonetheless because OLED, after all, costs a hell of a lot less than MicroLED does.

Samsung Display’s concept, dubbed the “OLED Tile”, was made up of ten 6.8-inch bezel-less OLED panels and two 31.5-inch monitors, which all slotted together to create an elongated, rectangular display. Presumably, such a shape may be able to support some different kinds of applications that regular-shaped displays cannot. The OLED Tiles could also be used to create the kind of mammoth 100+ inch displays common in the MicroLED world.

Whether or not we see any consumer products based on this concept isn’t clear. Samsung Display supplies its technology to TV and monitor brands, and so it’s up to them to experiment with more flexible display products. Likely, they’ll be more interested in the bezel-less OLED concept if Samsung can trim the bezel size even further, so that the actual border between the modules is less than a millimetre.

Samsung Display said that besides making mammoth OLED displays at a more affordable price than MicroLED, the tech may also interest smartphone makers who want to build bezel-free handsets.
