Philips OLED909 & OLED809 TVs on sale now

Several new OLED TV models from Philips are now available to buy, including the Philips OLED909 and OLED809 which is expected to go head-to-head with LG’s popular C4 OLED television. The flagship Philips OLED959 is scheduled to hit store shelves in mid-October.

The company is launching four new OLED TV models in total, with the most premium offering being the special edition Philips OLED959 (pictured, above) which comes with 4-sided Ambilight and is available in a single, 65-inch size.

The next model down is the Philips OLED909 (below), which also has four-sided Ambilight and is available in three sizes – 55-, 65- and 77-inches. The Ambilight systems differ, though, as the OLED90 comes with an enhanced version that has multiple lenses for the rear-mounted LEDs.

Both the Philips OLED959 and OLED909 come with LG Display’s most advanced OLED panel, featuring second-generation Micro Lens Array technology and enhanced brightness. What sets them apart is that the OLED959 comes with more powerful speakers from Bowers & Wilkins. They also come with Philip's new 8th Gen P5 AI processor.

The Philips OLED809 replaces last year’s OLED808 (below) and is expected to be the company’s most popular model, with specifications that match the LG C4. It comes with a 144Hz panel, just as the OLED959 and OLED909 have, and for the first time it supports Apple’s AirPlay 2 and HomeKit. However it only has 3-sided Ambilight, rather than 4.

All three models run the Google TV operating system, Philips said.

As for the Philips OLED759 (below), this is the most affordable of the company’s 2024 TV range, and is available in a wider range of sizes as there’s also a smaller 48-inch option. In addition, it runs the Titan OS operating system and it lacks some of the premium features of the above models. For instance, it only has a 120Hz panel and it’s based on the first-generation MLA tech, rather than the second-gen.

Titan OS is a brand new operating system that was developed by Philips and an independent software maker. It made its debut in Philip’s LCD TV models such as the PML9009, PUS8909 and PUS8309, and will later appear in other TV brand’s models, where it will compete with operating systems such as Android TV, Google TV, Roku, Tizen, webOS, Fire TV and TiVo OS.

One novelty with Titan OS is that it features a Casting application that’s compatible with Google’s Chromecast. So most smartphone apps that support Chromecast should also work with Titan OS’s Casting feature, enabling users to push content from it to any Titan OS television.
