Panasonic reveals flagship OLED & Mini-LED TVs with higher brightness

Panasonic stepped into the limelight on day two of the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show, taking the wraps off its new TV lineup. It consists of three new models, including its flagship Z95B OLED TV, the W95B Mini-LED TV, and the W70B LED model.

The Panasonic Z95B has been eagerly anticipated as the successor to last year’s Z95A, which was widely considered to be among the best OLED televisions in 2024, and the company has not disappointed those hoping to see some big improvements. Most noteworthy of all is that Panasonic is replacing the Micro-Lens Array or MLA technology found in last year’s OLED panel with a brand new “Primary RGB Tandem Panel” created by LG Display that promises increased brightness, superior detail and more colour volume.

As for the Panasonic W95B, that’s set to offer an improved Mini-LED panel with around two and a half-times more local dimming zones compared to last year’s W95A model, which should ensure better contrast and deeper blacks.

Meanwhile, the lower-end Panasonic W70B LED TV will support three HDR formats – HDR10+, HDR10 and HLG, and sport a super slim bezel.

Like last year, Panasonic’s TVs will all run the Fire TV operating system supplied by Amazon, and the two higher-end models will offer a new Prime Video Calibrated Mode, which is a special setting just for Amazon Prime Video content. Also included are Calman and ISF calibration software tools for those who want to try and fine-tune the TV’s picture settings, and in the U.S., the TVs will also come with an ATSC 3.0 tuner for picking up next-generation broadcast signals.

Panasonic said the Z95B OLED and W95B Mini-LED TVs will both be sold in the UK. and the U.S., but the W70B will only be offered in the U.S.

New OLED

The company says the Panasonic Z95B OLED TV will be available in three sizes, namely 55-inches, 65-inches and 77-inches, which is the same as last year’s model. However, unlike last year, all three sizes will be sold in the U.S. That’s a bonus for U.S. buyers, who were restricted to just one option – the 65-inch model – with the Z95A OLED TV.

Without a doubt, the biggest update on the Z95B TV is its new quad-layer Primary RGB Tandem Panel, which has been paired with Panasonic’s proprietary ThermalFlow cooling technology to beef up its capabilities. The new panel and cooling tech will combine to make the Z95B TV’s pictures brighter, bolder, more colourful and more detailed than those found on the already-excellent Z95A.

Panasonic said the new panel marks a departure from last year’s model, which used LG Display’s MLA-based OLED technology. The company didn’t confirm that it’s using the same “four-stack” OLED panel that’s found on the new LG G5 and M5 OLED TVs, but the company also threw in the term “quad-layer” to describe it, so it almost certainly is the same thing.

Other improvements include the new HCX Pro AI Processor Mk II, which supports the Dolby IQ, HDR10+ and HDR10 high-dynamic range formats, as well as new AI features like Precision Detail, which promises to “unlock more” when watching Dolby Vision content.

Panasonic said it has re-designed the audio system on the Z95B TV, creating what will feel like a “wider soundstage” with enhanced processing capabilities for spatial audio effects. Dolby Atmos surround sound is supported too, the company said.

In addition, the company said Z95B OLED TV’s new panel supports rapid refresh rates of 144Hz, making it an ideal set for gamers. It can cater to both AMD FreeSync Premium and Nvidia G-sync VRR, with ALLM and Dolby Vision gaming also onboard, plus a new True Game Mode picture setting.

New Mini-LED

The biggest Panasonic TV to go on sale this year will be the W95B Mini-LED TV, which will be available in the same three sizes as the Z95B, and also in an 85-inch size.

It will go on sale in the U.K. and the U.S. and the Mini-LED panel is said to deliver enhanced contrast and better black levels thanks to the extra helping of local dimming zones it provides. The exact number of dimming zones will depend on the size of the TV, but Panasonic said that there are more than enough on each version to ensure vastly superior backlight control than last year’s W95A model.

The Panasonic W95B will get the same HCX Pro AI Processor MKII as found in its OLED cousin, along with the same new Precision Detail feature and various other picture and sound enhancement features. Just like the Z95B, the Mini-LED TV is ideal for gamers, with 4K 144Hz VRR, AMD FreeSync Premium, Nvidia G-Sync, Dolby Vision gaming and ALLM all on offer.

Unfortunately, Panasonic didn’t say a lot about the integrated sound system, though it did confirm that there is a 20-watt subwoofer included.

New LED TV

Set to be offered exclusively to U.S. consumers, the Panasonic W70B is an LED TV that will be sold in multiple sizes – 43-, 50-, 55-, 65-, 70-, 75- and 85-inches.

It’s equipped with what looks to be a fairly regular LED panel that supports the three aforementioned HDR formats, and it also includes MEMC technology that should enable it to handle fast-paced action content such as live sports and blazing gunfights with better results.

The company said the W70B LED TV will come with four HDMI ports, but it didn’t specify if any of these are HDMI 2.1, so we can’t say for sure if it will support advanced console gaming.
