German TV specialist Loewe has told AV Forums that its latest luxury television, the 4K Stellar OLED TV, has launched in the U.K., priced at £9,999 and £14,999 for the 77-inch and 83-inch models, respectively.
The Stellar OLED was revealed earlier this year, and it is the first TV from Loewe to be produced since the company said earlier this year that it’s going to start “finishing” the OLED displays it uses in-house, so it can emblazon them with a genuine “Made in Germany” stamp of approval, signifying their true quality.
That doesn’t mean it makes the OLED panels – it actually uses LG Display’s WOLED displays, featuring second-generation Meta 2.0 tech – but it does integrate its own heatsink and power supply, and optimises the picture quality somewhat to make them stand out from the crowd.
The 4K, 120HZ panel is said to feature image-enhancing technologies such as Meta Multi Booster and a new Detail Enhancer tech, which can both be found in LG’s G4 and C4 OLED TVs, as well as the Panasonic Z95A OLED TV. Those features, together with Loewe’s customisations, result in what the company says is “unparalleled picture quality for vibrant colours, deep blacks, and precise contrast, assuring breath-taking clarity”.
In addition, the IF Design Award-winning Loewe Stellar OLED TV also comes with its very own take on Samsung’s Tizen OS, which has been licensed as the basis of its own, Loewe os9 operating system. Besides a refreshed and more intuitive user interface, os9 adds a dual-channel recording system that utilises a triple tuner and integrated SSD to help users balance live broadcasts with anything they might want to view later.
Because Loewe os9 is based on Samsung’s OS, that does however mean that the Stellar OLED is unable to support Dolby Vision content, though the company doesn’t rule out adding support at a future date. In the meantime, users will have to make do with HDR10+, HDR10 and HLG.
The company says the Stellar OLED also features a built-in soundbar with 200-watts of power output and support for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X surround sound, and on the back you’ll discover there are four HDMI 2.1 ports that support VRR and ALLM for super slick gaming graphics.
As always with Loewe, the design of the TV itself is another spectacle, and in the case of the Stellar OLED it is clad in a brushed aluminium frame with a stone-like back panel that’s said to be made of “real concrete”, though it is a specialised, lightweight style concrete.
In addition, the company has taken a lead out of Philips’ book, adding a special lighting system to the frame, which adds some customisable ambient effects that look especially cool when the lights are out.
While the 77-inch and 83-inch versions are available to buy in the U.K. now, having previously been delayed, there is a 97-inch model that’s still waiting in the wings. It’s slated to release “in the New Year” and it will cost £18,999.
