Loewe announces small but slick We.SEE LCD TVs

Loewe has expanded its TV lineup with the launch of its new We.SEE 43 and We.SEE 32 televisions, which feature LCD displays and are significantly more affordable than its luxury OLED TVs.

The most striking feature of the TVs is their novel and “sophisticated 360-degree design”, with a minimal bezel framing the display, cable tunnels and a detachable rear cover that keeps all of those wires neat and tidy at the back of the TV. The company is giving away a table stand with each TV, with a “storm grey” finish that matches the We.SEE TVs, and it offers alternatives in the shape of floor stands and wall mount options, for an extra price.

Another nice thing is the Bluetooth-compatible We.REMOTE control, which features an illuminated cursor ring and voice controls to simplify the act of navigating the TV.

As far as the specifications go, the We.SEE 43 is a 4K resolution, 43-inch display, while the We.SEE 32 only offers Full HD resolution and measures 32-inches. The We.SEE 43 also has better HDR capabilities including support for Dolby Vision alongside the HDR10 and HLG that’s available on the smaller model. Ambient Brightness Control and Optical Picture Control features are present on the larger TV but not the smaller one, and the We.SEE 43 also gets four HDMI 2.1 ports, compared to just three on the We.SEE 32. Loewe didn’t say how many of those ports are full-bandwidth, but they’re all able to support Variable Refresh Rates and Auto Low-Latency Mode.

Both of the TVs use Edge-LED pabels based on VA LCD technology and can deliver what the company says are “vibrant colours and great viewing angles”, and they both offer 120Hz refresh rates. They’re powered by the Loewe os8 operating system, which provides access to streaming services like Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV+ and Amazon Prime Video, as well as support for Miracast, Apple AirPlay 2 and DTS Play-Fi.

They also use the new SL8 Loewe chassis that sports eARC compatibility for enhanced audio, and the company is only too happy to suggest that its klang bar3 mr soundbar would be a great product to pair with either model. In terms of surround sound, the We.SEE 43 supports Dolby Audio, while the smaller model only has Dolby Digital Plus.

Loewe has been extremely busy this year, hitting the headlines with its super-slick Stellar OLED model, which launched in the U.K. this month and features a stylish concrete panel at the back. The Stellar OLED also has a customized panel, thanks to Loewe’s decision to purchase unfinished OLED displays from LG Display so it can add its own customizations at its factory in Germany.

The new We.SEE models show us that Loewe has not neglected the LCD side of its TV business, but although they cost a lot less than its OLED models, we can't say they fit into the “budget” category as they’re still extremely expensive when compared to similar LCD offerings from other, less-luxurious brands. Loewe, after all, is widely regarded as a premium product manufacturer, focused on building high-quality and stylish TV products no matter what their actual specifications are.

The Loewe We.SEE 43 is priced at £1,200, while the We.SEE 32 will cost £900, and they can be purchased at stores or through the company’s website now. They’re certainly a lot more affordable than the company’s premium OLED models, with the 42-inch Stellar OLED TV costing a cool £3,299, and also less than the company’s mid-tier We.SEE OLED televisions, which start at £1,700 for the 48-inch display.

There are plenty of similarly-sized LCD TVs on the market that cost a lot less than the We.SEE 43 and We.SEE 32, but the company may still find an audience among those consumers who want something more stylish to serve as a second screen in their homes.
