LG Display’s upcoming G5 OLED TV will feature 4K resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate, according to new database listings.
The LG G5 OLED TV, the successor to this year’s flagship G4 OLED model, has also been certified for sale in South Korea alongside the upcoming LG C5 OLED TV. It’s now listed in the Korean Institute of Mechanical, Electrical and Electronic Testing's database, which is a necessary step for new products to be registered for sale to the public.
The details regarding the 165Hz refresh rate stem from a second listing, in VESA’s ClearMR certification database. VESA is an organization that certifies TVs in-line with their motion clarity.
It represents an upgrade to last year’s OLED G4 TV, which only has a 144Hz refresh rate, which itself was new this year, with previous LG TVs being restricted to just 120Hz.
The database entry shows that the LG OLED65G5, to give it its full name, has achieved a ClearMR score of 10,000, besting the performance of the 144Hz G4 model, which was rated at 9,000.
At present, there is no reference to the LG OLED C5 in VESA’s ClearMR database, so it’s not clear yet if that model will get the same upgrade. The existing LG C4 also supports a 144Hz refresh rate.
As for the IMEET database, this appears to confirm there will be no changes to LG’s model naming convention. In addition, that database also contains the first images of the new televisions, which suggest there will be minimal changes to their look and feel.
Flatpanels HD says that the photos seem to suggest the next-generation, brighter MLA panel with a new anti-reflective coating will remain exclusive to the G5 OLED model, although this has not yet been officially confirmed.

LG is expected to announce its 2025 OLED TV lineup at CES in January, so we don’t have long to wait to see all of the new changes and features in the G5 and C5 OLED models.
