There’s another entrant in the ultra-portable projector arena, with Chinese electronics brand Yaber launching what it says are two “all-in-one” entertainment hubs that can provide visuals in any location.

The Yaber T2 and T2 Plus projectors offer Full HD resolution and sport integrated JBL speakers for enhanced audio.

Interestingly, the Yaber T2 and T2 Plus appear to be identical, with the only difference being that the former is available online, while the latter can only be bought at physical shops. They’re incredibly portable, with dimensions of 165 x 140 x 290 mm and weighing just 2.4 kilograms, which means they can easily be squeezed into a rucksack or a suitcase and taken almost anywhere.

They’re also perfect for anyone who wants a viewing device that can easily be shifted from room-to-room in the home, and they don’t need to be placed next to an electrical outlet thanks to their battery power. According to Yaber, the battery provides around 2.5 hours of life per charge, or 18 hours if it’s only used as a Bluetooth speaker. For transportability, it has a built-in carry handle that also acts as a kickstand to raise the angle of projection, if that’s required, or to increase its stability.

“We are delighted to bring our customers a truly portable cinema experience,” said Yaber executive Marshall Moo. “Extra effort was put into upgrading the outdoor use of the projector T2/T2 Plus. After all, what good is a portable projector if it gets easily shaken by the wind or isn’t bright enough to watch under starlight? Beyond film and music, our customers want a projector to power parties on the go, and that’s what the T2 Series delivers – a system that looks better and sounds perfect."

One of the most interesting features of the Yaber T2/T2 Plus is its sealed optical engine, which prevents dust and other particles creeping into the lens and ruining the picture. In terms of its specifications, it boasts a throw ratio of 1:25:1 and delivers 1080p images at a maximum size of 120-inches diagonally. It’s not the brightest of projectors though, with its ANSI lumens output rated at just 450, so it may not be the best model for daytime viewing. Certainly, you’ll want to keep the curtains drawn.

Other capabilities include screen alignment and auto keystone correction for easy setup, and the ability to resize the picture around any obstacles that might be present. As for the JBL sound system, this incorporates two 8-watt speakers with Dolby Audio support. In terms of connectivity, there’s an Ethernet LAN port plus Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2.

On the downside, neither model is particularly smart, in that they don’t come with a smart TV operating system such as Android TV or Google TV. However, when purchasing the T2 online, users have the option of buying a Google TV dongle as well, which can be slotted into the single HDMI port. Through this, it therefore becomes possible to watch Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu and other streaming services.

The Yaber T2 and T2 Plus are on sale now online and in physical retailers, with prices starting at $349.
