TP Vision says the Disney+ app is now available on more than 30 different Philips Android 4K TVs, including its high-end OLED 984 and its entry-level PUS7304 models.
Disney+ is a new video streaming service from the Walt Disney Company, that offers access to more than 500 films, 350 series and 26 originals, including tons of old Disney cartoons, the entire Star Wars movie collection, Pixar’s animated films and Marvel superheroes. The service launched on March 24 in the U.K. and is priced at £5.99 per month, or £59.99 for an annual subscription.
According to TP Vision, every single Philips television that runs Google’s Android operating system will be able to access Disney+. The app will come pre-installed on all new 2020 models, while owners of older models can download it from the Google Play store.
Philips Android TVs from 2019 and this year will be able to enjoy Disney+ to its full potential as many of those models support Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. They also offer Philips’ unique Ambilight technology which should help to set the mood.
“The Disney+ application is now available on a broad range of Philips Android TVs – with their unique immersive Ambilight technology – in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, France, the UK and Ireland. The service has been already available and very successful in the Netherlands since autumn 2019," the company said.
Philips TV owners get a better deal than those who’ve bought a TV from LG Electronics or Samsung, where support for Disney+ is limited to 2016 models and later.
