Samsung Electronics has announced its full slate of 2023 Q-Series soundbars, with no less than six new models going on sale in the coming weeks.
The updated range of Q-Series soundbars is clearly designed to cater to everyone’s tastes and budgets, starting with its smallest and simplest 3.1-channel HW-Q60C model and ending with its powerful, 22-speaker 11.1.4-channel HW-Q990C (pictured).
Features and capabilities such as Adaptive Sound, Dolby Atmos and DTS:X are present across the entire range, and each of the soundbars features Samsung’s updated Q-Symphony sound system that ensures audio is harmonised if the soundbar is connected to a compatible Samsung television. The more expensive models also feature SpaceFit Sound Pro, which is a feature that uses a built-in microphone to scan the room’s acoustics and automatically adjust the speaker and subwoofer’s output accordingly, to optimise the listening experience.
Top of the range is the Samsung Q-Series HW-Q990C soundbar, which provides 22-speaker 11.1.4-channel sound with additional wireless rear speakers and an 8-inch wireless subwoofer fitted with an acoustic lens to amplify the bass. Just below that model sits the Q930C, which offers a similar set up with 9.1.4-channel sound delivered through 17 speakers.
The HW-Q800C is next on the list, and the package drops the additional rear speakers, meaning that all you’ll get is the soundbar and subwoofer that work together to create an 11-speaker, 5.1.2-channel setup. Then there’s the HW-Q700C, which offers 9 speakers and 3.1.2-channel sound, with a smaller 6.5-inch subwoofer. Meanwhile the HW-Q600C offers exactly the same setup, but loses premium features such as the wide ranger tweeter, Hi-Res audio decoding and Wi-Fi, Chromecast and AirPlay 2 support, though Bluetooth is still present.
Finally, the cheapest and least powerful model is the HW-Q60C, which offers 7 speakers and 3.1-channel sound with Dolby Atmos support. It also lacks up-firing speakers, and only has a “lite” version of Adaptive Sound, which uses artificial intelligence to optimise the audio output based on the content genre.
Samsung said most of the Q-Series soundbars are on sale now, with the flagship HW-Q990C set to cost £1,599. The Q930C is priced at £1,149, while the the Q800C will cost £849, and the Q700C retailing at £749. Samsung’s website doesn’t yet list a price for the Q600C, but a number of authorised retailers have published a £599 price tag and marked it as “available soon”. The Q60C is not yet available, and no price tag has been mentioned, but we’re confident that it’ll be the cheapest of the bunch when it does arrive.
