Samsung Electronics is hoping to tempt video gamers to take a look at its premium Odyssey Ark Mini-LED gaming monitor, which is designed to provide the most immersive experience yet and is currently on display at the iconic department store Selfridges in London. Visitors are free to test the display for themselves with a racing game until the end of the month.

The Samsung Odyssey Ark Gaming Simulator can be found in the menswear section of Selfridges inside the Designer Street Room, on the first floor of the store. There, shoppers and gamers alike are invited to test their racing skills on the bespoke simulator, which sees three Odyssey Arks attached to one another to create a unique, totally immersive experience.

Launched last year, the Samsung Odyssey Ark is said to be the world’s first 55-inch, 1,000R curved gaming monitor. It boasts an impressive 165Hz refresh rate and a response time of just 1 millisecond. It’s an imposing monitor that aims to total immerse users in their gaming world through its unique “Cockpit Mode”, which allows the display to rotate, tile and pivot on a supplied, height adjustable stand to create the most optimal viewing condition for each game.

The monitor is all the more impressive because of its Multi View functionality, which allows it to split the display into four screens when viewed horizontally, or three in the vertical position. This, Samsung says, eliminates the need for multiple monitor setups that some hardcore gamers employ.

There’s also a “Flex Move Screen” function that allows users to adjust the screen size from 55-inches to just 27-inches if preferred. This can be done at the click of a button, while the display can be switched from horizontal to vertical in just one click too. It’s also possible to adjust the aspect ratio between 16:9, 21:9 and 32:9 using the Ark Dial controller. Of course, the Mini-LED display with dozens of local dimming zones ensures that the graphics are colourful, bright and vivid for all games.

Visitors to Selfridges who want to check out the Samsung Odyssey Ark in person can do so, while also experiencing the future of cloud gaming with the Samsung Gaming Hub, the company said. The Gaming Hub retail display is currently located in the Tech department on the lower ground floor of Selfridges, Samsung said.

Open until January 31, shoppers will experience a new way of gaming and get a chance to olay some of the biggest Xbox Game Pass titles available, including Forza Horizon 5, Halo Infinite and Flight Simulator, along with other releases. For this experience, shoppers can test a multitude of displays, including the Odyssey Ark, a 55-inch Neo QLED 8K TV and a 55-inch Neo QLED 4K TV.

The Samsung Gaming Hub is a new feature that first landed on Samsung’s 2022 TVs and brings cloud access to hundreds of games from partners including Xbox, Nvidia GeForce Now and Utomik, without the need to purchase a console. Instead, all games are streamed over the web, with access enabled through a monthly subscription.

“We’re thrilled to bring both our Gaming Hub retail display and ground-breaking Odyssey Ark gaming screen to consumers this winter at one of the UK’s most popular shopping destinations,” said Samsung’s Director of Direct-to-Consumer Tom Morey. “There has been a lot of excitement around our Odyssey Ark ever since it launched earlier this year and gaming fans in the capital will now get the chance to experience the gaming screen for themselves and enjoy an adrenaline-fuelled experience like never before.”

Samsung said shoppers who want to purchase the Odyssey Ark at Selfridges will be entitled to an exclusive 10% price discount, with the offer open until January 31.
