Video-on-demand platform provider Rakuten TV is adding some hot new releases to its catalogue of movies and TV shows in May, and they’ll all be available to watch in 4K HDR.

The new releases include the Oscar and BAFTA-award winning war drama 1917, which is based on the inspiring true story of two extremely brave soldiers in World War One. The tale relates how the soldiers were tasked with delivering a message that would prevent 1,600 men from walking into a deadly trap on April 6, 1917.

Also worth a watch is Charlize Theron’s latest hit Bombshell, where she portrays Fox News presenter Megyn Kelly in a provocative story based on true events. The movie relates how Kelly led a group of women to take on former Fox News head Roger Ailes and the toxic atmosphere that characterised his reign at the network. The movie, which also stars Nicole Kidman and Margot Robbie, is said to be one of the most powerful stories of women empowerment ever made by Hollywood.

The new adaptation of Little Women is another tale of women empowerment that’s not to be missed. The film is a heart-warming portrayal of sisterhood, female relationships and creative ambition based on Louisa May Alcott’s novel of the same name, and stars Florence Pugh, Saoirse Ronan and Emma Watson.

Also new in May is action-comedy duo Will Smith and Martin Lawrence’s Bad Boys for Life, which sees the stars return to take on a mother-and-son ran drug gang.

Then from May 11 to May 31, Rakuten TV is running a “May Madness” promotion, with great deals on even more content, including titles such as The Greatest Showman, Terminator: Dark Fate and Judy.
