Freeview Play has added S4C as its newest channel player, bridging the Welsh language broadcaster’s unique on-demand content to more than 16 million households.
According to the company, S4C provides access to a variety of dramas, documentaries and sports shows on-demand through S4C Clic, available now through Freeview Play. In addition, users will also have access to S4C’s live programming, including its stream online-only sports event coverage, plus a library of box sets.
Freeview Play likes to bill itself as the U.K.’s fastest-growing TV platform, offering viewers a seamless combination of catch up and on-demand content from the country’s most important broadcasters. It conveniently enables all British programming to be accessed in one place. Now, with S4C Clic appearing on Freeview Play’s homepage, it’s easier than ever to access the world’s only Welsh-language broadcast channel.
The announcement comes after Freeview Play and S4C struck a deal alongside the “adopted Welshman” and Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds to bring Welsh language, culture and talent to U.S. audiences.
At present, S4C is offering exclusive coverage of this year’s Royal Welsh Agricultural Show, with live streams of main ring competitions directly from the event.
“We are proud to be able to bring Welsh language programming to a new audience on Freeview Play,” said S4C Chief Executive Siân Doyle. “We’ll be able to showcase the creativity and talent that we have in Wales in millions of homes across the UK.”
