Danish company Canvas Audio is trying to secure funding for a new “Audiostand” for LG OLED TVs through a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo. The company said its product is available to pre-order for $999 (around £770) for the 55-inch version, and will ship in September.
Canvas’ Audiostand was first unveiled last year, in the shape of a new sound system for LG’s OLED models.
The idea is that the Audiostand transforms the TV into a “real Hi-Fi sound system with 3D stereo imaging”, which is achieved via “Bacch 3D technology”, the company said. Canvas said its product will also work with other types of TV, though not as a fully integrated solution. The Audiostand is designed as a floor-standing unit, though there is an optional wall mount for those who prefer to hang their TV up on high.
Some of the features in the Canvas Audiostand include HDMI ARC sound, AirPlay 2, Chromecast, Spotify Connect and Bluetooth for music. There’s also a nice little storage chamber that’s just big enough to fit an Apple TV or Amazon Fire TV box.
Canvas said its Audiostand falls in an “entirely new A/V product category”, though it also sees them as an alternative to traditional soundbars.
The company first planned to launch Canvas on Indiegogo in October 2019, but ended up delaying the launch until now. As well as the 55-inch version, there’s also a 65-inch model priced at $1,099 (£846).
