That’s great news for music lovers of course. Twitch is one of the world’s most popular livestreaming apps with literally thousands of streams available dedicated to indie artists, gamers, creators and more. Of course, Toshiba’s big screen Smart TVs, including its Android and its Alexa-Built-In models, offer a perfect platform from which to tune in.

As for Amazon Music, this really needs no introduction. It’s one of the world’s largest music streaming platforms with more than 75 million songs from the world’s top artists in its catalogue.

The native integration with Toshiba’s TVs means that it’s dead easy to navigate the Twitch, which has been tweaked for the smart TV platform. Users can flick through the various streams on offer using the arrow buttons on the TV remote, so there’s no need to fiddle with a smartphone.

To celebrate the arrival of Twitch, Toshiba is partnering with the British indie record label Defected Records, giving viewers free access to six different live streams from the Defected Croatia festival taking place this summer. It’s a widely anticipated event, with some of the headline acts this year including Honey Dijon, Jayda G, Moodymann and Sam Divine.

Throughout the festival, Toshiba said it will create daily “magazine” style episodes of Y/OUR HOUSE content, through which viewers can catch up with everything that happened over the previous 24 hours. Y/OUR HOUSE will be streamed throughout the Defected Croatia 2021 festival, which runs from 5th-10th August,

“Twitch is first and foremost a community which comes together to experience live entertainment, based on their passions and fuelled by interactivity,” said Twitch Vice President of Business Development Sajjad Rehman. “And there is no more important community than a family. Bringing Twitch into the UK's living rooms will make it even easier for even more communities to come together for those never to be repeated moments which take place on Twitch every second.”

The addition of Amazon Music meanwhile is sure to be a big bonus for anyone who owns a Toshiba TV and already subscribes to Amazon Prime Video. If that happens to be you, you’ll get immediate access to over two million songs as well as a thousand playlists and stations at no extra cost. For those who want full access to the over 75 million songs, the Amazon Music Unlimited subscription is exactly what they’re looking for.

“We are excited to be able to launch Amazon Music across our range of TVs,” said Toshiba TV Commercial Director Bart Kuijten. “With access to Amazon Music our customers can now enjoy a big-screen audio performance for all the music they love.”

Toshiba said the new apps will appear automatically in the apps menu, so long as they have automatic updates enabled. Twitch and Amazon Music add to an already extensive collection of apps that includes favourites such as Netflix and YouTube, as well as Freeview Play and its on-demand content from services such as BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All 4 and more.
