TCL’s new C64 Series 4K QLED TV will launch imminently in the U.K. and in Europe, the company has announced.
While there’s no sign of TCL’s Q Series QLED TVs, including the flagship QM8 MiniLED TV, which are earmarked for the U.S. market, the TCL C64 is likely to be the first of several new televisions that the company is planning to launch in the U.K. later this year, with a showcase event on April 17 set to reveal its wider lineup.
So the TCL C64 is really just the company’s effort to get the ball rolling, and it’s going to be offered in a nice range of sizes, with 43-, 50-, 55-, 65-, 75- and 85-inch models expected to be available. It will mark the debut of TCL’s new AIPQ Engine 3.0 processor, and it’s said to boast “state-of-the-art” Quantum Dot technology that promises to dazzle viewers with more than a billion colours and shades. TCL says brightness will extend to 450 nits, and there will be support for 4K HDR Pro, HDR10+, Dolby Vision and MEMC Motion Clarity.
TCL hasn’t yet revealed the full specs so we don’t know what kind of audio system will be onboard, but there will be Dolby Atmos and passthrough compatibility with TCL soundbars. One thing we do know is that it will feature a 50/60Hz display, however TCL’s Dual Line Gate technology is said to boost gaming content to up to 120Hz refresh rates. Auto Low-Latency Mode and Game Master 2.0 are also featured.
The TCL C64 will be powered by Android TV and come with Freeview Play along with Netflix et al, so there will be plenty of content to watch. Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa are also said to be supported, and the TV will look the part with its almost “bezel-less luxury design”, the company said.
While there’s no details on pricing or a launch date, TCL promised the C64 will go on sale sometime this month, though that doesn’t include the smaller 43- and 50-inch models. They’ll either go on sale later, or be restricted to Europe only.
