Sony has announced the limited availability of another OLED TV model this year, the 2023 Bravia A75L OLED 4K TV, and it’s available for pre-order now.

According to the Japanese brand, it’s a limited edition release that shares many of the premium features found in its high-end Sony A80L OLED TV, but it’s available at a lower cost. The company has listed it for sale on its U.S. website at $1,600 for the 55-inch version, and $2,000 for the 65-inch model. In both cases, that’s around $500 cheaper than the Sony A80L.

With the release, Sony is making its incredible OLED TV picture quality more accessible, though consumers would be advised to look for bargains and promotions at this time of year, as they may well be able to find substantial discounts on the Sony A80L that bring it more in line with the A75L.

There are some minor differences between the two models, in areas such as the design aesthetic, sound quality and Google Assistant.

Whereas the Sony A80L uses Acoustic Surface Audio+, with three actuators and two down-firing subwoofers built into the OLED panel, the A75L only has regular Acoustic Surface Audio, which two OLED panel actuators and two full-range bass reflex speakers. It’s said that the A80L will therefore produce better low-end bass and more accurate sound than the Sony A75L. Even so, anyone who wants better sound quality can always invest in a soundbar and external speakers to take advantage of Dolby Atmos surround sound.

In terms of design, the Sony A75L has a fixed stand with blade-style legs, while the A80L has an adjustable three-way stand that allows users to raise or lower its height.

Last, the Sony A80L features Google Assistant, meaning it can be voice activated simply by saying “Hey Google”. The Sony A75L also has Google Assistant, but it doesn’t have an internal microphone, so you’ll have to hit the appropriate button on the remote first.

Aside from those differences, the two models are basically identical. They come with an advanced OLED EX panel that produces excellent images, and support Dolby Vision, HDR10, HLG, Dolby Atmos, DTS, and have four HDMI 2.1 ports that support gaming features such as variable refresh rates, auto low-latency mode, and 120Hz refresh rate. It’s said that two of the four HDMI 2.1 ports support the full 48Gbps bandwidth, and one supports eARC.

HDTVTest reviewed the Sony A80L earlier this year, and it is one of our favourite OLED TVs in 2023:
