The new features, available for all Sky Glass, Sky Stream and Sky Q customers, include Sky’s now annual Santa Tracker, which can be activated through voice search for the first time.

Sky’s Santa Tracker will slowly track the progress of Santa Claus up until the last minutes of Christmas Eve, until he finally descends down the chimney with your kids’ long-awaited gifts. From now until the big day, simply ask Sky any one of the following questions: “Where’s Santa?”; “Santa Tracker”; “Where’s Santa Tracker?”; “Where is Santa right now?”; “Follow Santa” or “Is Santa coming tonight?”, and it will show his current location in the world.

Sky is also promising tons of extra films and shows for your festive viewing over the holiday period on the Sky Showcase channel. These include movies such as The Polar Express, Elf, and A Boy Called Christmas, plus Christmas specials like A League of Their Own Christmas Special 2022, Rob & Romesh vs Christmas on Ice, and original, brand new Sky content in the shape of Christmas Carole and Red Riding Hood: After Ever After.

Sky said some of these festive shows can be accessed using a range of fun, famous lines from the movies. To watch The Grinch, users can pick up their voice remote and utter the lines “No one should be alone this Christmas” or “Maybe Christmas perhaps means a little bit more”.

To see Elf, simply say “Santa! I know him!”, “I’m a cotton-headed ninny muggins”, “Smiling’s my favourite”, or “Son of a nutcracker” and the film will start showing. To watch The Polar Express, utter the words “Why to the North Pole of course!”, and for Love Actually, just state “Love actually is all around”, or “At Christmas, you can tell the truth”.

Finally, to see Home Alone, just say the words “Merry Christmas, you filthy animal”, “Keep the change you filthy animal” or “Guys I’m eating junk and watching rubbish”.

An additional new voice command makes it possible to find a whole bunch of kids-friendly Christmas content in one place. Simply press the voice button and say “Kids Christmas”, “Ho Ho Ho”, “Kids Christmas Grotto”, “For the little elves”, “Sky Kids Christmas” or “Kids Christmas stuff” and it’ll throw up a long list of things to keep the little ones occupied.
