Loewe, the reborn luxury consumer technology firm from Germany, is celebrating its 99th birthday with the launch of an extravagant and extremely stylish-looking, gold-plated 77-inch OLED TV.

It’s officially called the Loewe bild s.77 gold edition, and it’s described as a “one-off with genuine gold-plated elements”, the company said in its pitch.

As a limited edition, there are only 99 of the handcrafted 77-inch OLED TVs that will go on sale, with each one boasting a gold-plated badge at the back, engraved with its edition number. There are a few other tweaks too, including a gold-plated Loewe Signature Ring that’s hewn from solid brass.

Loewe says the sparkly TV also comes with a specially produced book that details the history of the company, as well as a “personal greeting” from its management team. We’re not sure if that’s in the form of a written message or a Zoom video call or what, but the gesture is certainly a nice one.

As for the actual TV, it’s as stylish as one has come to expect from Loewe. The Loewe bild s.77 edition is a classy 4K OLED display featuring an SX Quad Core Processor, support for Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG. It also has a built in soundbar that’s only revealed through a unique mechanism when the TV is switched on, while the back of the TV is covered with an expensive-feeling fabric material.

The soundbar is special, housing 10 forward-firing drivers that pump out a combined 120 watts, and it integrates Mimi Defined technology that adjusts the sound to the user’s unique hearing ability. There’s also a gold-plated HDMI cable thrown into the package.

For Loewe loves, the bild s.77 edition will surely be a must have, and can be purchased while stocks last from Loewe.TV, Harrods and other high-end retailers. As with anything golden, it won’t be cheap, with a reported price tag of £12,999.
