Luxury Scottish audio brand Linn has unveiled its first and also what it says is the world’s "best sounding" wireless speaker at a special launch event at Harrods. 

The extremely high-priced Linn Series 3 speaker is all about delivering top quality sound and access to the best streaming services on offer, with support for Spotify, Amazon Music HD, Apple Music, Tidal and Linn’s very own managed streaming music service. 

Beautiful sound comes wrapped in a beautiful design with the Series 3 speaker encased in white gloss ceramic with an egg-shaped speaker grille at the front. Touch-sensitive controls are found at the top on a cut glass plate, although the device can also be controlled via a dedicated accompanying mobile application. 

Hand built in Scotland, the Linn Series 3 can operate either as a single speaker or as a stereo pair, with HDMI Arc connectivity providing an alternative to wireless options such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and AirPlay. 

Knowing that many listeners will want to get straight to the music, the speaker comes with an option to select up to six favourites, which might be a single song, an album, a streaming service or a radio station. 

The Linn Series 3 notably doesn’t support Apple’s AirPlay 2 however, nor personal assistants such as Alexa or Google Assistant. Those who’d prefer to use their voice can however connect the Series 3 to an Echo Dot device and control it that way. 

Perhaps the best thing about the Linn Series 3 is its ease of use. Capable of high-resolution audio up to 24-bit/192kHz audio, the speaker is designed as a simple plug and play unit, with no need for any specialist installation. Plug it in, turn it on and you’re ready to go.

The luxurious Linn Series 3 speaker is available in a white and gold finish, exclusively to customers at Harrods, or alternatively in Chrome. It won’t come cheap though, with a single device priced at £2,950, discounted to £5,450 for those who'd like a pair.
