It seems the U.K. retailer John Lewis has accidentally given away details on the price tag and release date of LG Electronics’ upcoming 48-inch LG C2 OLED TV.

The LG C2 OLED model, which features LG Display’s OLED Evo display technology, was first announced at CES last month but so far the company has declined to release those all-important details. However, a posting on John Lewis’s website suggests the LG C2 could launch in the U.K. at least, far earlier than expected. The listing suggests expected delivery within five weeks – meaning a March arrival date.

Unfortunately, buyers will have to deal with a more expensive price tag than was found on last year’s equivalent LG C1, with John Lewis suggesting that customers will have to hand over £1,399 to get their hands on the 48-inch LG C2. In contrast, the 48-inch LG C1 last year retailed at just £1,299 when it first went on sale.

While neither of these details have yet been confirmed by LG, there are reasons to think they might be accurate.

That’s because the LG C2 is expected to use the brighter OLED Evo panel that debuted on last year’s flagship LG G1 OLED model, meaning a superior HDR performance. The tech hasn’t been confirmed for the 48-inch version of the LG C2 yet, but it would certainly explain the price increase. If the price is true, it would mean the 42-inch version of the LG C2 may also cost a bit more than some might be hoping for, with a price tag perhaps more in line with last year’s LG C1.

Of course, this is all still speculation at this point in time, and we’ll only know for sure when LG confirms the details, or if another over-enthusiastic retailer happens to leak the same information.

The suggested launch date of March is surprising as it’s a good month or so earlier than LG normally launches its OLED TVs. However the accuracy of this is less certain – if the John Lewis listing was accidentally posted ahead of time, the promise of delivery “within 5 weeks” might apply to a future date, when the listing was meant to be published.

Regardless of when it goes on sale, the LG C2 does actually seem quite reasonably priced for what looks to be an extremely advanced OLED television that will be a dream come true for next-generation games console fans, what with its brighter 120Hz panel, compact size and HDMI 2.1 features – including the ability to play 4K@120Hz games with Dolby Vision.
