Hisense says its latest L9G TriChroma Laser TV is just the ticket for anyone looking for a cinema-like experience in the comfort of their own home. 

The chinese firm has just announced availability of its newest laser TV, and it has been eagerly anticipated by fans of the niche market since it was first shown off at the virtual 2021 Consumer Electronics Show in January. 

The Hisense L9G is said to improve on the company’s existing, single-laser 100L5F and 120L5f laser TVs and dual-laser 100L10E and 120L10E models by adding a third laser to its light source engine. It’s a tri-laser system, called TriChroma, and combines red, green and blue to achieve 107% coverage of the BT.2020 colour space, far in excess of the L10E series’ 76% coverage. 

It uses a 0.47 DLP chipset and offers 4K resolution images at a maximum size of 120-inches, the company said, with a motion rate that’s said to be “ten times faster than OLED”. 

If we assume those two claims are true, then it should mean the Hisense L9G offers a comparable picture to what you’ll get in your local, high-end cinema. 

The company offers a choice of 100-inch and 120-inch Ambient Light Rejecting cinema screens to go with the L9G, which is meant to ensure better colour accuracy and wider viewing angles than you’ll get by just blasting the picture directly onto a wall. Hisense also sells an ALR Daylight screen for those looking to use their projector in well lit rooms. 

The projector offers a rated light output of 3,000 lumens and 1,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. The light source will last up to 25,000 hours, Hisense said. 

Premium features such as HDR10 and HLG are supported, while the built-in 40 watt speakers support Dolby Atmos. There’s also an HDMI 2.1 eARC port that allows for high bitrate sound to be passed to external sound systems. The Hisense L9G runs Android TV, which means instant access to the likes of Netflix, HBO Max, Amazon Prime Video, YouTube and more apps. 

Hisense said the L9G is on sale in the UK now, priced at around £4,000 for the 100-inch version. The 120-inch model will go on sale in the coming weeks, priced at £4,400.
