Dell Alienware has announced the world's first 360Hz QD-OLED and 4K QD-OLED monitors, saying they’ll be available to buy in January 2024.
It’s the first company to confirm that such models are in the works, but they won’t be the only option for QD-OLED lovers. Earlier this year, leaks from Asus and MSI suggested that those brands are also planning to launch similar models early next year, designed to deliver a smooth gaming experience.
Dell Alienware’s 32-inch AW3225QF offers 4K resolution and a 240Hz refresh rate. It’s said to be a curved QD-OLED display and it will come with a three-year warranty against burn-in. As for the AW2725DF, this is a 27-inch model but although it is smaller, it ups the stakes with a 360Hz refresh rate, ensuring even smoother gameplay graphics at blazing fast speeds. It’s said to be a Flat QD-OLED with QHD (2560x1440) resolution. They'll build on the launch of the world’s first 240Hz QD-OLED monitors, which made their debut earlier this year.
The new monitors were announced by Dell Alienware at TwitchCon 2023 through a video teaser, but very few details were revealed apart from those specifications. The company will most likely have much more to say at CES 2024, which takes place in early January.
However, the news suggests that Samsung Display has likely already began mass producing its new QD-OLED panel sizes. Until now, the company has only offered 34-inch and 49-inch QD-OLED monitor panels.
FlatPanels HD said that the extremely fast response time of QD-OLED technology means that the 360hz panel should exceed the performance of a 500Hz LCD panel, while providing deeper blacks and superior contrast. They should be incredibly bright too, thanks to the advances made by Samsung Display in increasing the brightness of its QD-OLED technology.
