Gamers will soon be able to get their hands on a bendable version of LG Display’s 45-inch, 240Hz OLED monitor panel, with Corsair’s new Flex display set to start shipping later this month.
The Corsair Xenoen Flex 45WQHD240 was first announced in August. It was one of the first two new 240Hz OLED monitors, alongside a curved 45-inch display that was announced by LG Electronics. However, instead of following LG’s lead, Corsair opted to make its monitor more flexible. The Corsair Xeneon Flex comes with handles on each side that can be popped out, grabbed and pulled to adjust the display’s curve to an optimal position. The curvature maxes out at a radius of 800mm, or 800R.
The unique flexibility of the display is aimed at multi-taskers who want to use the monitor for both gaming and productivity. When working, most people prefer to use a flat screen, whereas a curved screen is said to be superior for gaming as it allows players to take better advantage of their peripheral vision.
The good news is that the added flexibility doesn’t come at a huge additional cost, with Corsair asking for just $300 more than LG’s display.
Other than the unique curve capability, the Corsair Xeneon Flex is likely to be a very capable gaming monitor. Along with the 240Hz refresh rate that should ensure smooth graphics, it features 3440x1440 resolution, meaning those graphics should be extremely detailed too. Corsair further claims a 0.03 ms (g2g) or 0.01 ms (on/off) response time, 1,000 nits peak brightness and pixel-level luminance control that enables a 1,350,000:1 contrast ratio. There’s an anti-reflective coating on the actual display, and it supports VRR in the shape of Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync. Buyers will also get the piece of mind afforded by Corsair’s three-year warranty for “Zero burn-in and Zero Dead Pixels”.
In terms of connectivity, the display comes loaded with two HDMI 2.1 ports, a single DisplayPort 1.4 port, one USB-C slot and two USB-A 3.1 Gen 1 ports on the front. There's also a 3.5mm audio port for headphones.
All of this can be had for a price tag of £2100. The Corsair Xeneon Flex is available to pre-order from the company’s website, and is expected to ship later this year or early next, depending on the buyer’s location.
