Luxury audio and TV brand Bang & Olufsen has announced a newer, bigger version of its high-end Beovision Harmony 4K OLED TV.

The new, 97-inch model is the biggest OLED TV the Danish company has ever produced, and adds to the original 77-inch Beovision Harmony that was launched back in April 2019 and costs £19,050. Other models include a 65-inch model that debuted in 2020 with a £14,650 price tag, and an 88-inch 8K version launched that same year at a cost of £50,645. In addition, Bang & Olufsen sells an 83-inch Beovision Harmony with 4K resolution that launched last year, priced at £20,150.

Given the other models in the lineup, we suspected beforehand that the new 97-inch model is not likely to be one that fits into the “affordable” price bracket, and true to form Bang & Olufsen has priced the TV at a cool £50,650.

The 97-inch model is a 4K resolution version, but disappointingly it doesn’t appear to sport the latest OLED display from LG Display. That means it lacks the Micro Lens Array upgrade that can be found on LG Electronics’ latest G3 OLED TV. Instead, the display is from the previous year, but it’s still capable of producing incredible pictures, with support for Dolby Vision IQ and HDR10 Pro. According to Bang & Olufsen, it comes with four HDMI 2.1 ports, which means it supports the best gaming features such as VRR, ALLM and 4K/120Hz images.

The huge price tag is justified by the fact that this is a luxury TV, and the 97-inch Beovision Harmony fits that billing thanks to its unique design. It’s integrated with foldable twin speakers that sit below the screen when it’s switched on, but the moment you switch it off, they fold up and rotate 90-degrees, with the screen sinking behind them to transform the TV into a stylish speaker set up.

Bang & Olufsen said the 97-inch model comes with a choice of speaker covers, including the new wood and aluminium option with a Light Oak finish, together with additional Black Anthracite, Natural Aluminium and Gold Tone options.

The speakers are incredibly powerful of course. They form part of an integrated, fully active three-channel stereo system that combines a 1-inch tweeter with two 2.5-inch full range drivers, a 4-inch midrange and two 4-inch subwoofers, producing a combined 450 watts of sound amplification. For those who want an even better setup, Bang & Olufsen offers some additional Beolab wireless speakers that can connect to the TV, sold separately.

The £50,650 price tag puts the 97-inch Beovision Harmony way above the competition, with LG Electronics’ new, MLA-based 83-inch G3 OLED TV selling for a relative snip at just £7,499. That said, it’s not as big and it’s not nearly as stylish, so it may yet be a more compelling option for those with tons of money to burn.
